Montreal, Quebec (Canada), Monday May 28th 2018 – TKO returns to the Videotron Centre in Quebec City on September 21 and TKO lightweight champion Jesse Ronson (19-8-0) will have the opportunity to write a page in history and become TKO’s second double division champion as he will compete for the vacant TKO welterweight title! No opponent has been announced yet but offers have been put on the table by the TKO organization although there is one name Ronson really wants to see across the cage come September “Jonathan Meunier was offered the fight back in May and he said no, I know the fight was offered to him again in the last week – there is no way he can say no again! If he doesn’t take that fight he should seriously stop fighting and become a full time princess” repeated Ronson in interviews and on social media.
TKO president Stephane Patry is confident that Meunier will step-up to the challenge; “Jo is a proud athlete and I’m pretty sure Ronson calling him out doesn’t sit too well with him. Kevin Genereux and Michael Dufort have both called out Ronson so I don’t see why Meunier wouldn’t step up – Ronson is a small welterweight who will give up a lot of reach if this fight happens. This is Meunier’s chance to fight for the welterweight title.” TKO hopes to announce Ronson’s opponent shortly as well as the other championship bouts to be featured on that card. This will be Ronson’s first fight on a new multiple-fight agreement with TKO.
The complete fight card of TKO44 will be announced in a press conference that will take place at the Videotron Centre in the first weeks of May. The TKO organization is preparing an explosive fight card for this highly anticipated event as the goal will be to break the Videotron Centre MMA attendance record of 4,712 set by TKO on May 4th.
