STRAHINJA GAVRILOVIC SUSPENDED 6 MONTHS FOR DOPING VIOLATION
Montreal, Quebec (Canada), Tuesday April 4th 2018 – Last Thursday, March 29th, TKO was advised by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux, Quebec’s governing body for combat sports, that they had suspended middleweight contender Strahinja Gavrilovic for 6 months as of that date. He will thus be eligible to return to the cage as of September 30th.
Gavrilovic had been flagged for a doping violation, now revealed due to the presence of cocaine in his urine, following an in-competition test conducted by the commission on December 8th 2017, the night on which he competed for the middleweight championship at TKO41, losing a split decision to Marc-Andre Barriault at the Bell Centre.
As part of his due process, Gavrilovic was granted an in-person hearing to present his side of the case. That session took place a few weeks ago and the decision was later rendered.
